This week, Intersex Initiative sent its list of recommendations to the San Francisco Human Rights Commission, which is preparing to issue a resolution on the human rights violations of intersex individuals, based on the historic public hearing it held in May of this year.
It is our understanding that the Human Rights Commission is struggling to firmly condemn the serious human rights violations of intersex children under the current medical protocol while not jeopardizing the collaborative relationships intersex activists are building with some members of the medical community. We believe that our recommendations can help resolve some of this dilemma facing the members of the Human Rights Commission.
We also have the text version of Intersex Initiative director Emi Koyama's presentation at the LGBTI Health Summit that was held last month in Boston available for download in PDF format. As you see, this presentation is the fruit of our summer intern Erin Lloyd's legal researches and the basis for our recommendations to the San Francisco Human Rights Commission. We welcome questions and comments to both of these documents--do send them in!.
