Bodies Like Ours Names New Executive Director and Welcomes Two New Board Members
After 15 months of phenomenal growth, Bodies Like Ours has shuffled some responsibilities among our founders and has expanded our Board of Directors.
Janet Green has stepped down from the position of Executive Director and will refocus her time on our goals of mentoring and support. These two key aspects of Bodies Like Ours are the basis on which we founded the organization.
Betsy Driver has been appointed Executive Director by the Bodies Like Ours Board of Directors. She will focus her energies on fundraising efforts and continue with the many hats she has been wearing such as letting you know about important news and events within the intersex movement and about Bodies Like Ours. She will also be responsible for future web development.
S. Asher Bian Taylor is one of our two newest board members and our youngest. Asher became involved with intersex activism through his desire to help create community and visibility for people who are often isolated from each other. Asher is the creator and webmaster of our youth initiative website, Queer Bodies (http://www.queerbodies.org). Queer Bodies will be his main focus as part of the board of directors. His other pursuits include school (Bellarmine University in Louisville), writing, art, and music. Asher lives in Hardin County, KY.
DaleLynn Sims joined our board of directors in May, 2003. She considers herself an accidental activist and gender educator working toward advancement of knowledge and understanding on gender issues. A former adjunct faculty member of Pikes Peak Community College, Central Texas College and the Community Colleges of Chicago, she now works as a contractor in support of our troops and has herself served in the military. It was her military experience that was instrumental in DaleLynn taking a stand about issues of gender. DaleLynn lives in Brunswick County, Virginia with her partner and Harley, the wonder dog.
Bodies Like Ours is excited by Asher and DaleLynn joining our board and looks forward to the unique talents they will bring to the organization.
