Northeast "Defining Male & Female" Symposium at AAAS2005
National Organization of Gay & Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals will sponsor the symposium titled "Defining Male and Female: Biology and the Law" during the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science being held in Washington DC. The event is held 8-11am on February 19. While the panel includes one transgender activist (the fabulous Mara Keisling of the National Center for Transgender Equality), and two medical researchers who will present about intersex, no intersex activists have been invited to present at the symposium. We find it problematic that intersex people continue to be treated only as objects of intellectual inquiry. We have no plan to pay the required $225 one-day registration, but if any of you happened to be there, please let us know what happens. (Note to Mara: Please kick their butts for us, okay?)
