Hello ipdx supporters,
Here's the latest update from Intersex Initiative Portland (ipdx).
## ipdxWIRE: 03/25/2003
This is a message from Intersex Initiative Portland (ipdx). Please feel free to forward to your friends--and do encourage them to sign up themselves at http://www.ipdx.org/ The instruction for unsubscribing is found at the bottom.
1) Speaker's Bureau Training--A Huge Success!
Yes, we held out first Speaker's Bureau training on March 22, which went really well. It was attended by seven people, who will be involved with ipdx sometime in the future, if not right away. We will soon have speakers available anywhere between Eugene and Olympia--if your class or community group is interested in hosting a basic presentation about intersex, please do contact us! We will also make our Speaker's Bureau training materials available publicly soon.
Our next training isn't expected until September, but please submit your application if you are interested in joining the Speaker's Bureau because we might do another training sooner if there is enough demand. We are also looking into the possibility of doing a Seattle training, so let us know if you live closer to Seattle and want to be part of the Bureau.
2) Intersex Film Festival Postponed
So, if you had already marked your calendar, I apologize: we aren't going to have the film festival on April 11 because I've been too depressed with the state of the world to work on any more than the Speaker's Bureau. It will be re-scheduled to late April or early May, so stay tuned.
3) Web Site Updates
When was the last time you visited ipdx's web site (www.ipdx.org)? You should probably visit again because there are lots of updates! Some of them are:
- A new, compact version of intersex FAQ
http://www.ipdx.org/articles/intersex-faq.html
- Information about various projects at ipdx
http://www.ipdx.org/projects/index.html
- ipdxWIRE Back Issues
http://www.ipdx.org/wire/index.html
- ipdx's Media page, including our Letters to Editor
http://www.ipdx.org/media/index.html
There are other materials we've created for the Speaker's Bureau training, which will be posted on the web site soon.
Also: expect a story about ipdx in the upcoming issue of Daily Vanguard, the student newspaper of Portland State University. The article will be reprinted on our web site as well.
4) ipdx Wish List
What do we want? Well, we want global justice and world peace! But, short of that, here are some of the things we are drooling over:
- Library volunteers. We need PSU or OHSU students who will obtain obscure materials for us from time to time. It won't take that much of your time if you already go to the library for your homework anyway.
- Volunteers in general. Take a look at the list of ongoing projects, and/or bring us your ideas: we want volunteering to be as meaningful to you as it is for us.
- Laser printer (that connects to an iMac). The printer Emi owns is a cheap deskjet, which is okay for printing MapQuest maps, but isn't high-res enough to use in creating ipdx's materials. As a result, we have to take many trips to Kinko's and pay lots of money.
- Someone who can lend us a digital camcorder. Best if you can also help us learn Final Cut Pro/Express.
We'll add more when we come up with anything...
