Pacific Northwest Intersex Initiative Speaker & Activist Training
Intersex Initiative is holding the annual all-day Speaker's Bureau and Activist Training this March 27, 2004 at Portland State University for those interested in getting involved in raising the awareness of intersex experiences. There are many opportunities for volunteering, but this training is particularly designed toward those who wish to learn how to educate the community about intersex through small-group and classroom presentations. One does not need to have an intersex condition to join--in fact, most of our previous trainees do not have intersex conditions themselves, but are doing fabulous job spreading awareness! We especially welcome people who are involved in various professional, social, and faith communities that may benefit from having one of their own speak to them about intersex.
We also found that participating in this training is the best way for volunteers to get involved even if public speaking is not their interest, and thus we are opening the training to those who wish to volunteer for Intersex Initiative in other ways. In addition, we have a limited space available for people from activist or social service organizations that wish to have one of their members educated about intersex issues. Training is free for those who plan to volunteer for us (speaking or otherwise); we ask for a small donation from the participants representing other organizations.
If you are interested in joining us for our Speaker & Activist Training, please download the application or email us. If you have problem with the format or language of the application, please feel free to contact us.
